Alliance to Launch Urban Water Sustainability Council
The Urban Water Sustainability Council is a new forum for urban leaders in the fields of water, sustainability, infrastructure, planning, politics and science to meet and share ideas and strategies for creating green, sustainable cities. Howard Neukrug, Director of the Philadelphia Office of Watersheds and U.S. Water Alliance Board Member has agreed to serve as the Council’s Chair. The Alliance has invited forward-looking public utilities from across the nation to participate in the Council’s first organizing meeting in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, June 29, 2010. The Council represents an enormous opportunity for urban leaders to work together on important sustainability issues affecting this nation’s largest population areas. The Alliance’s Green Infrastructure Task Force will work closely with the Council to advance the implementation of green infrastructure in urban environments.
