Author Robert Glennon Headlines Alliance’s National Dialogue
The U.S. Water Alliance (Alliance) is excited to announce that Robert Glennon, author of recently published Unquenchable: America’s Water Crisis and What to Do About It, will be the keynote speaker on the value of water at our National Dialogue What’s Water Worth (W3)?. Black & Veatch, CDM, and Insituform Technologies are sponsoring the event, which will take place in Washington D.C. on March 25-26, 2010.
Glennon, a University of Arizona professor of law and public policy, writes with authority, passion, and humor about the way Americans use their water. Unquenchable is a sequel to Glennon’s 2002 book, Water Follies: Groundwater Pumping and the Fate of America’s Fresh Waters. In both books, Glennon argues that water is wasted and undervalued in the U.S. and that Americans must make hard choices to reverse the water crisis.
Glennon’s presentation kicks off the first day of the Alliance’s second National Dialogue, where today’s best and brightest American water sector leaders, including experts from the public sector, industry, academia, and non-profit organizations, will explore the true value of water in the U.S. The diverse group of participants will also investigate what practical steps are needed to ensure that Americans understand the value of water, and will discuss the need for a sustainable and integrated national water policy.
